Locating Passadiços do Paiva

The Passadiços do Paiva walkway and the 516 Arouca Bridge are located in northern Portugal, approximately 48 mi / 77 km southeast of Porto — a drive of around 1 hour and 15 minutes. The nearest major town to the Passadiços do Paiva is Arouca, a small municipality with full services, including supermarkets, gasoline, electric vehicle charging, hotels and restaurants, along wth a population around 23,000.

The Passadiços do Paiva and 516 Arouca Bridge are part of the Arouca Geopark, a natural park that preserves the natural resources of the region. The park has a network of hiking trails, geological sites, historical landmarks, and recreational opportunities like rafting and kayaking.

The road that leads from Arouca into the geopark (and from the east, from the A24 tollway are mountainous and winding; use caution as you navigate them. Many of the access roads from Porto (A1, A29, A32) are also toll roads, and you’ll want to make sure you have a toll transponder to make the payments.
